Why we gather
To encounter Jesus and his presence. We do that through worshiping him and spending time together as a community.
What happens while we gather
We meet at 9:30am until roughly 11 or 11:30. We follow a rhythm (also known as liturgy) described below, but we allow that to shift as we feel God lead. The shift could look like spending more or less time in doing one of the following:
Kids time
We begin our gathering focused on helping the kids encounter God and learn about God. Kids time may look like:
Talking through a bible story
Encouraging them to listen to God's voice
An activity relevant to the teaching for further meditation or reflection of the lesson
Brief summary to reflect on what we talked about in hopes of it staying in their minds!
Silence
We do this to reset our individual internal worlds to let all our busyness settle and hope to refocus on connecting with the Lord. This may last three to five minutes.
Topical Discussion
Sometimes the kids time will spark thoughts and conversation in the group. Sometimes we will talk through things we feel God is speaking to us about. It is a great time to bring questions and share scriptures or experiences.
Music Worship
We are fortunate to have many individuals in our group who have a musical gifting and developed skills. The songs we share together are focused on "looking up," meaning they use words that proclaim God's goodness, glory, greatness, etc.
Communion
We take communion each week to honor, remember, thank, and celebrate Jesus for what he did for us, allowing his body to be broken and his blood shed for us to be made whole and to restore our relationship with God.
